Welcome to the new Slow philosophy section on nakedize.com. It is very much a work in progress but we will give it a proper launch shortly with a new article titled Is it the right time for Slow?

Slow philosophy matches perfectly the Nakedize ethos — craftsmanship, simplicity, sustainability, quality over quantity — so it made sense to group the human needs theory and all Simon's articles together.

The simple truth of our busy lives is that they are too fast and we are missing out as a result. Slow philosophy is the consideration given to thinking our way through this phase to a way of life that is both sustainable and more pleasant.

A great place to start is with the wise words of others. Some of these words directly address today's growing crisis, but most are historical — their sentiments still current.

Quotes

"Once we accept that energy, fresh water, and food will become less freely available over next few decades, it is hard to escape the conclusion that, while the 20th century saw the greatest and most rapid expansion of the scale, scope, and complexity of human societies in history, the 21st will see contraction and simplification. The only real question then is whether societies will contract and simplify intelligently or in an uncontrolled, chaotic fashion."
Richard Heinberg author of Peak Everything

"Human subtlety will never devise an invention more beautiful, more simple or more direct than does nature because in her inventions nothing is lacking, and nothing is superfluous."
Leonardo da Vinci
