1981 - 1987
Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague, Bachelors in Graphic and Typographic Design. My final year project - North Sea Jazz Festival, wins 'best in show', resulting in media exposure, and first clients.
1985 - 1992
Freelance for Ontwerpwerk (multi-disciplinary design) for clients such as Shell, Novib and HIVOS (NGO, now CORDAID), and NRC Handelsblad (national daily newspaper). Own clients include The Hague City Council, The Province of Zuid-Holland, Winkelman and van Hessen (PR and communication consultants), and AXA Insurance.
1992 - 2003
Founding of OPHIS - office for design.
In addition to graphic design and illustration, below-the-line advertising and direct mail services are offered to clients. OPHIS team grows from two to thirteen members in four years. My role shifts from designer to creative director, managing a team of eight designers.
Clients include HTM Public Transport, Coopers and Lybrand (now PriceWaterHouseCoopers), Achmea Life and Pension Insurance, Rijnmond Health Insurance, Tempus (a Dutch Meridian Energy), Van Sluis Consultants (now part of Publicis), Bruna (a Dutch Whitcoulls - 400+ stores nationwide), Schering-Plough, Barents and Krans Attorneys Notaries, Nederlandsch Octrooibureau (European Patent and Trademark Attorneys), and many, many other companies, both in the profit and non-profit sectors, big and small. |
